Academic and Training Program Hub
This database includes academic offerings for people interested in furthering their formal education at the intersection of health and extreme weather. This includes degree programs, coursework, fellowships, and other resources that require more time and financial commitment than the offerings in CAFE’s Educational Resource Hub.
This is a crowd-sourced database, and CAFE does not verify the quality nor endorse the use of any materials included in this database. Please follow the terms of use and attribution requirements specific to each resource. If you would like to share an academic offering, please use the submission form below. We invite the addition of health and extreme weather academic offerings from around the world.

The mission of the Center for Geological and Climate Hazards is to nucleate and facilitate multidisciplinary research and training related to natural hazards. The Center was established in 2006 by the UB College of Arts and Sciences, with Prof. Michael F. Sheridan as the founding director.Since that time the Center’s activities have grown through additional UB investment and through several significant research grants. Major efforts are establishing online collaborative platforms (vhub.org) and field-scale experimental capabilities for use by the international research community. The Center for Geological and Climate Hazards is part of larger UB efforts in sustainability research and training (RENEW).Any member of the UB community can join the Center for Geological and Climate Hazards at no cost. Members receive updates on upcoming events, newsletters, and join a list that can be used to find natural hazards-related expertise within UB.Graduate students who are Center members are eligible to apply for the Graduate Student Research Grant. Any UB graduate student who is a member of the Center is eligible, regardless of home department. The Call for Proposals is usually issued in January each year. The Center hosts training events, seminars, workshops, and conferences that provide forums for learning and networking within the UB, national, and international research communities.

MCEER is a national multidisciplinary and multi-hazard earthquake engineering research center, helping communities by developing new knowledge, tools and technologies to increase disaster resiliency in the face of earthquakes and other extreme events.MCEER was established at the University at Buffalo by the National Science Foundation in 1986 as the National Center for Earthquake Engineering Research (NCEER). In 1998, the center was renamed to the Multidisciplinary Center for Earthquake Engineering Research (MCEER). This led to the genesis of its current name, MCEER.Researchers from UB, industry partners and institutions throughout the United States work together to address technical impacts natural and man-made hazards have critical infrastructure, facilities and society.
